The 2015 IMCP Summit is happening October 21st – 22nd, 2015! The summit will again be held at the Department of Commerce in Washington, DC. While we await the final details from the Department of Commerce, we wanted to get these dates on your calendar, and get an idea of who would be able to attend this year. A draft agenda is attached.
As an attendee and presenter at last year’s summit, I can say with certainty that it was an energizing experience. We met with other IMCP Manufacturing Communities, talked with communities who applied for the designation, and met with elected officials and federal agency representatives on our initiatives. Now in our second designation year and on the cusp of the re-designation process, it is more important than ever that we make a strong showing at this IMCP Summit in DC.
Why Attend the IMCP Summit?
- We will have the opportunity to again meet with federal agency representatives about their programs that support IMCP Manufacturing Communities, and discuss other programs that we’d like to see included in IMCP.
- Facilitate meetings with elected officials and/or their staff representatives to discuss the issues that are crucial to the needs of advanced manufacturing in Northwest Georgia.
- Network with other IMCP Manufacturing Communities from across the country, learn about the projects and initiatives that other communities are pursuing relevant to their key industries.
- Visit the Front Royal VA Inland Port, facilitated by our contacts at the Appalachian Regional Commission in DC. This visit is scheduled for October 20th 2015 at 3pm. This is an optional activity for anyone interested, organized by our partners at the Appalachian Regional Commission. Details for this site visit will be forthcoming.
